This year there were thirty-nine submissions from seven different institutions that were whittled down to twelve works by the trio of jurors. The jurors were: Gallery 1313 executive director Phil Anderson, independent curator Joshua Burston, and artist J.Mac.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/GrSt_Participants.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-34572\" title=\"GrSt_Participants\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/GrSt_Participants.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/GrSt_Participants.jpg 520w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/GrSt_Participants-150x96.jpg 150w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/GrSt_Participants-250x161.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/a>Participating artists (from left to right):\u00a0Melanie Billark, Anna Ho, Kristina Guison, Rouzbeh Akhbari, Cameron Auld (first row); Jakub Plewa and Laurie-Lynn McGlynn (second row)<\/p>\n<p>The evaluation was &#8216;blind&#8217; since there was no discerning information of the applicants other than their images submitted on CD and their artist&#8217; statement. With the installation complete, three prizes were awarded. Rouzbeh Akhbari from OCAD University won the A &amp; M Green Charitable Award with his impressive works, &#8220;Institutional Stabilizer I&#8221; and &#8220;Institutional Stabilizer II.&#8221; His meticulously constructed works deal with stability and colonial power by using reconstructed wood from shipping pallets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RA.InstitutStabilizer-II.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-34578\" title=\"RA.InstitutStabilizer II\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RA.InstitutStabilizer-II.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RA.InstitutStabilizer-II.jpg 749w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RA.InstitutStabilizer-II-109x150.jpg 109w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RA.InstitutStabilizer-II-182x250.jpg 182w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RA.InstitutStabilizer-II-746x1024.jpg 746w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><\/a>Rouzbeh Akhbari with Institutional Stabilizer II, reclaimed wood \/ fork lift, 115 x 160 x 97 cm<\/p>\n<p>Kristina Guison, also of OCAD University, won the Artcast Inc Sculpture Award for her work &#8220;Displacement&#8221; which emotes the way we are moved physically and emotionally in our travels from one establishment to another.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KG.Displacement2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-34574\" title=\"KG.Displacement2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KG.Displacement2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"319\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KG.Displacement2.jpg 1005w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KG.Displacement2-150x144.jpg 150w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KG.Displacement2-250x240.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 319px) 100vw, 319px\" \/><\/a>Kristina Guison and her work Displacement, steelsheets, steel rods, chains, 77 x 260 x 70 cm<\/p>\n<p>Jakub Plewa of York University with his work &#8216;STUD&#8217; won the MST Bronze Ltd Sculpture Award.
