Drawing from her past experiences, they take on an ethereal quality while delivering a riveting story grounded in the human form. Experimental, unique and earthly &#8211; all this features could be found in her latest exhibition at the Canadian Sculpture Centre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_camie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-25234\" title=\"rsz_camie\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_camie.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"287\" height=\"304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_camie.jpg 359w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_camie-141x150.jpg 141w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_camie-236x250.jpg 236w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 287px) 100vw, 287px\" \/><\/a>Artist Camilla Geary-Martin with her sculpture, <em>Alice<\/em>,\u00a0at the Opening Reception.<\/p>\n<p>Geary-Martin\u00a0creates a diverse selection of intimate and engaging bronze sculptures. Her work is unique and experimental at the same time with a strong focus on the human form. A broad array of life experiences has influenced her as an individual and now informs her sculpture. The focus of this show reached back two generations to encapsulate her grandmother\u2019s embroideries and days spent sketching embroideries and other artifacts \u00a0in the Victoria and Albert Museum that resulted in a carefully curated sculpture exhibition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_p1010918.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25235\" title=\"rsz_p1010918\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_p1010918.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_p1010918.jpg 365w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_p1010918-150x108.jpg 150w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rsz_p1010918-250x180.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/><\/a>Camilla Geary-Martin, <em>Head Study<\/em>, patinated bronze.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe creative process is an important element in my work, combining the sensuality of moist clay with a fascination for the human form. While my work is both representational and semi-abstracted, I particularly enjoy the freedom of the abstract\u2026 still the presence of the model informs my work, giving meaning and credibility to the form.\u201d wrote Geary-Martin\u00a0 in her Artist statement.
