The Artist Project celebrates its 7th year with another exciting show from February 20 to 23, 2014 at the Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place, Toronto.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Visitors with Mike Birksted’s Sculpture, Advance<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With a theme of SET SAIL<\/em>, the Opening Night Party\u00a0was a nod to the retro-nautical look of the 1940s. Visitors could get an airbrush tattoo by Black Line Studios, listen to the beats of DJ Vinny Gr\u00fcvhunter and DJ J-Lah\u00a0and check out fashion art installation: MeU!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The sailor girls were the greeters at the show<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Artistic Director Clair Taylor was walking the grounds, talking to artists and visitors.<\/p>\n

From seasoned collectors and first-time art buyers, to gallery dealers and interior designers, visitors came to\u00a0explore and discover works of art from over 250 top contemporary artists from Canada and abroad. This is a unique opportunity to meet and buy art directly from artists at Toronto\u2019s most celebrated contemporary art fair.<\/p>\n

\u00a0There were artists like\u00a0Dani Cooperman and Sarika Sehgal\u00a0with LED backlit photographs which they had added paint to and scratched part of it off – this seems to be the newest thing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Artist Sarika Sehgal<\/p>\n

Paul-Emile Rioux’ Landcuts<\/em> series was very innovative. He puts photographs into 3D computer software and adds a computer virus to it which creates the amazing fractured and surreal, futuristic looking landscapes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Artist Paul-Emile Rioux with\u00a0Landcuts<\/em><\/p>\n

Emerging artist Jonathan Groeneweg’s photographs of urban gardens are taken with a panoramic camera then up to ten images are stitched together at a pixel by pixel level creating incredibly detailed and arresting images of a very socially relevant trend: growing food in our city.<\/p>\n

It was only two hours into the show and artist Steven Chmilar\u00a0 had already sold A Fish Called Fate<\/em> and Idea Machine<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In UNTAPPED Emerging Artists Competition 20 of the country\u2019s best up-and-coming artists was showing,\u00a0\u00a0selected from hundreds of applications.<\/p>\n
