The Black and White Ball was inspired by Truman Capote’s event that was dubbed the party of the 20th century. He created an iconic evening with an exclusive invite list that reached fever pitch with celebrities and socialites begging to be on it.<\/p>\n

Propeller’s Black and White Ball exhibits work that are entirely black and white. The call was open to all media and this year we were thrilled to see works not only in 2D in in painting, drawing, photography and printmaking as well as a large selection of 3D work glass, clay, resin, fibre, papier mache, paper and video. In the jury process we were looking not only for a diversity of media but visual flow. 47 artists were selected.<\/p>\n

The South gallery was primarily figurative or flowed in lyrical, round shapes whilst the North gallery had more work with line. We also exhibited work that called for an interesting use of shadows through lighting.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The opening rounded out the show with guests dressed primarily in black and white, some masked, some in costume, true to Capote’s vision.<\/p>\n
