{"id":21111,"date":"2013-10-01T14:27:03","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T18:27:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/?p=21111"},"modified":"2016-09-29T10:24:39","modified_gmt":"2016-09-29T14:24:39","slug":"gardiner-museum-wins-awards-of-excellence-in-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/?p=21111","title":{"rendered":"Gardiner Museum wins Awards of Excellence in Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Gardiner Museum was recently recognized by the Ontario Museum Association (OMA), receiving the Award of Excellence in Exhibitions for <em>Transformation by Fire: Women Overcoming Violence Through Clay<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/hr_tbf-hero_opt.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-21113\" title=\"hr_tbf-hero_opt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/hr_tbf-hero_opt.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"345\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/hr_tbf-hero_opt.png 456w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/hr_tbf-hero_opt-150x94.png 150w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/hr_tbf-hero_opt-250x157.png 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The culmination of the last 10 years, <em>Transformation by Fire<\/em> was a ground-breaking exhibition originated by the Gardiner Museum in partnership with the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic. &#8220;This landmark exhibition used clay as the medium for storytelling and demonstrated the strength of these women who have provided real life examples grown in the face of adversity. We are very proud of all the women who stepped forward and participated in this project,&#8221; said Rachel Gotlieb, Interim Executive Director &amp; Chief Curator.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Raphael Yu has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 OMA Museum Benefactor Award of Excellence for his instrumental work towards the achievement of the Museum&#8217;s mission and vision. Yu recently donated an extraordinary collection of over 300 contemporary Canadian works to the Gardiner Museum, which lead to the establishment of The Raphael Yu Centre of Canadian Ceramics.
