AN TE SOCIAL \/ <\/strong>Opening Party for his exhibition, MONO NO MA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Guests were invited to mingle with An Te and enjoy an exclusive first look at MONO NO MA.<\/em><\/p>\n

They started to come early and their number grew very quickly.<\/p>\n

For the second exhibition of the Gardiner Museum\u2019s Artist Intervention series, renowned artist An Te Liu explores the space around things. Drawn at first to the burnished surfaces and anthropomorphic features of funerary ware found in the Gardiner\u2019s Ancient Americas collection, Liu has transformed discarded\u00a0materials into ceramic sculptures that evoke a multiplicity of references.<\/p>\n

With MONO NO MA<\/em>, acclaimed Liu explores the spaces around things.\u00a0 Mono means \u2018object\u2019 in Japanese, and is paired with the more elusive word ma, meaning \u2018space\u2019 or \u2018gap\u2019. Together they describe an exhibit which is simultaneously aware of form and non-form.<\/p>\n

Then party was up with complimentary beer from Steam Whistle Brewery, bubbly from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, mouth-watering bites from \u00e0 la Carte Kitchen.<\/p>\n

Beats and vibes were provided\u00a0by DJ John Kong (Do Right! Music).<\/p>\n
