{"id":17150,"date":"2013-01-04T13:18:38","date_gmt":"2013-01-04T18:18:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/?p=17150"},"modified":"2016-09-29T10:27:21","modified_gmt":"2016-09-29T14:27:21","slug":"a-grant-for-gallery-44","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/?p=17150","title":{"rendered":"A grant for Gallery 44"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12983\" title=\"2012Call1_0\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/2012Call1_0-1024x335.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"456\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/2012Call1_0-1024x335.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/2012Call1_0-150x49.jpg 150w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/2012Call1_0-250x81.jpg 250w, https:\/\/v2.artoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/2012Call1_0.jpg 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gallery 44<\/strong> is thrilled to announce the\u00a0<strong>Ontario Trillium Foundation has\u00a0\u00a0awarded a\u00a0 $146,500 grant<\/strong> to\u00a0strengthen our capacity as an\u00a0artist-run centre to support\u00a0artists, and build public\u00a0engagement with contemporary art.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More specifically, with this grant\u00a0Gallery 44 will:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Invest <\/strong>in our administrative space in\u00a0order to respond to the\u00a0growing membership and\u00a0increased programming offered\u00a0by our organization<\/p>\n<p><strong>Improve <\/strong>the working conditions of the staff and viewing experience\u00a0of the visitors by adding air\u00a0conditioning to the office and gallery spaces<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expand <\/strong>our services to artists by\u00a0purchasing a new DSLR camera\u00a0kit, upgrades to our digital\u00a0darkrooms, available to rent at affordable rates<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upgrade <\/strong>the plumbing and ventilation\u00a0in our analogue darkrooms as\u00a0the demand and interest in\u00a0traditional and alternative\u00a0processes continues to grow<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purchase <\/strong>new HD projectors, monitors\u00a0and audio equipment to better accommodate the needs of our\u00a0exhibiting artists and current\u00a0trends in contemporary\u00a0photography<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enhance <\/strong>opportunities in photographic\u00a0education by renovating the studio\/classroom multi-purpose<\/p>\n<p><strong>Increase <\/strong>membership satisfaction and\u00a0engagement by updating the\u00a0current production facilities\u00a0into a more contemporary and\u00a0welcoming space to house our\u00a0new digital printing services\u00a0and existing analogue\u00a0darkrooms (the only publicly\u00a0accessible wet darkrooms in\u00a0Toronto)<\/p>\n<p>This grant application was a result of\u00a0\u00a0a strategic planning exercise,\u00a0online membership survey, and\u00a0consultation with users of our\u00a0facilities.\u00a0 We have\u00a0tried to address the many needs of\u00a0the organization and thanks to the\u00a0Ontario Trillium Foundation we are\u00a0able to move forward with the\u00a0several capacity building projects\u00a0listed above.
